The art of side hustle — Why it is a must have

I recently had a conversation with Andika Prasetya, Head of Product at Spenmo and Commissioner at Koperasi KSP.

During the conversation (you can see the live replay here), we discussed the idea of the side hustle.

Honestly, I realize the importance of Side hustle a year back. In the past, I create side hustle only because I like making new products. I like the feeling when people try my product and feel satisfied. It is not because of economic reasons at all. But it turns out, a side hustle holds an essential key whether you can pursue your passion or live the life you want or not.

Why? How many do you think happy with current life/work? And how many of them that feel helpless? Mostly they can’t do anything since they need their jobs to fulfill responsibilities, especially as parents.

You will be surprised, but it’s a lot.

During the conversation, however, Andika points out a really interesting statement about the side hustle. One phrase that really resonates with me:

The most important is Just do it. Don’t care if your idea is challenging or absurd. Take the first action. Just do it

Before Dika has a successful career and ‘koperasi’ business as now where he got 3 digit of income. Dika has failed in 3 ventures, which are CekRumah (2019), Pikavia (2014), and My Indonesian journey (2013).

Dika argued that building a business only needs to right once. When its success, then it would the best setup, but if it failed, we learned.

It is the right mindset (In my opinion, :p)
